Rabindranath Tagore was a productive writer with around 2,230 melodies. His tunes are known as rabindra sangeet
It consolidates smoothly into his writing, the majority of which — sonnets or portions of books, stories, or plays the same — were lyricised. Affected by the thumri style of Hindustani music, they ran the whole array of human inclination, going from his initial lament like Brahmo reflection songs to semi sensual arrangements.
It is distinguished by its distinctive singing rendition, which includes a significant amount of ornamentation such as meend, murki, and other similar terms and is overflowing with romantic expressions. The music has a perfect balance, an endearing economy of poetry and musicality, and is primarily based on Hindustani classical music, Carnatic music, Western music, and Bengali folk music.

In Rabindra Sangeet, music and lyrics are almost equally important. Tagore came up with six new talas after being inspired by Carnatic talas. He felt that the traditional talas that were in use at the time could not do the song justice and were getting in the way of the lyrics’ seamless narrative. The Rabindrasangeet has various “parjay” sections like “prem,” “prakriti,” “bhanusingher podaboli,” and so on.The events and experiences of Bhanushingher Podaboli’s life serve as the inspiration for his songs.
